This 1970’s house had the original plywood siding that was outdated, and the arched window trim was rotting away. The homeowners had a more modern aesthetic in mind for their hillside home that included horizontal wood siding.
We helped this homeowner realize their vision for a modern home exterior with our expertise and experience installing siding. We earned a 5-start review for our efforts!

As you can see from the before and after images, the exterior of this home looks much better, and it can handle the elements.
Since the original plywood siding was in good shape, we installed the new siding over it. We added more nails to make sure it would meet today’s code for fastening and shear loads.
Next we added a layer of house wrap and window flashing. After that we applied wood furring strips that provide a solid base for fastening the siding boards. This creates an air space for drainage of moisture and drying. This siding system is called a “Rain Screen”, and is one of the best ways to prevent moisture damage to your home.
