This whole house remodel started as a dilapidated 1950’s ranch. We did a major whole home remodel that included new exterior siding, a metal panel roof, flooring, kitchen remodeling, and a bathroom remodel.
An extensive energy efficiency retrofit was done to improve comfort and make the home more energy efficient.
This mid century ranch was ready for an extensive interior remodel. The original interior had been neglected and painted with bright colors.
The original solid oak floors throughout the home were in great condition. They were sanded, stained, and refinished.
Like many 1950’s homes in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area, the kitchen had it’s original cabinets and laminate countertops.
We created an open floor plan by removing the wall between the kitchen and living room. There were no structural beam requirements in this home due to the orientation of the walls and ceiling framing.
The homeowner wanted to have a bright, modern kitchen with garden views, so we enlarged the window in the kitchen. We installed a simple wood ceiling with wood trim rather than skim coating the drywall ceiling.
The homeowner chose IKEA shaker style kitchen cabinets in a medium brown finish. Modern stainless steel cabinet hardware complimented the design of this kitchen remodel.
The interior home remodeling project included:
Th exterior of this home was in terrible condition with peeling brown paint, single pane windows, and 3 layers of roofing. The homeowner wanted a “cheery” color scheme and a metal roof.
We installed Hardie Panel siding with wood battens and white trim to create a modern farmhouse style exterior. The gable siding was replaced with cedar clapboards to add contrast and detail.
The homeowner wanted a mudroom addition leading to the back yard patio entertaining area. This small mudroom addition allowed access the yard and patio without having to go through the garage.
Since many 1950’s ranch homes lack a covered entry, we created porch design with simple 4×4 supports and exposed Douglas fir rafters. We topped it all off with a gray metal panel roof.
The exterior projects of this whole house remodel also included:
The dramatic ranch home renovation of this blighted house created a modern, comfortable, livable home with a lot of style and curb appeal.
